> David Pastrnak had two goals and two assists, Charlie McAvoy set a career high with four helpers, and Michael DiPietro stopped all 28 shots for his first NHL shutout as the Boston Bruins crushed the Nashville Predators 6-0 at TD Garden on Hockey Fights Cancer night.

## TL;DR
- The Bruins routed the Predators 6-0 at TD Garden on Oct. 22, scoring twice in each period.
- David Pastrnak had 2 goals and 2 assists; Charlie McAvoy added a career-high 4 assists.
- Michael DiPietro stopped all 28 shots for his first NHL shutout and second career win.
- Boston's point streak reached 7 games (8-2-1); Nashville fell to 3-3-3 with its 4th loss in 5.

## Key points
- David Pastrnak recorded his 20th career four-point game (2G, 2A), becoming the eighth player in Bruins history to do so.
- Charlie McAvoy's four assists were a career high; he is the fourth Bruins defenseman with 10 career games of 3+ assists, joining Ray Bourque, Bobby Orr and Brad Park.
- Michael DiPietro made 28 saves for his first NHL shutout, one week after earning his first NHL win at Anaheim.
- Casey Mittelstadt (3:49), Elias Lindholm (PP, 16:38), J.J. Peterka (17:21 of the 2nd) and Mark Kastelic (6:50 of the 3rd) also scored for Boston.
- The Bruins (8-2-1) extended their point streak to seven games; the Predators (3-3-3) were shut out for the first time this season.
- Justus Annunen allowed six goals in his season debut off injured reserve; Nashville visits Pittsburgh on Saturday while Boston hosts San Jose.

BOSTON — On Hockey Fights Cancer night at TD Garden, the Boston Bruins put on a clinic for both the cause and the crowd. David Pastrnak scored twice and set up two more, Charlie McAvoy dished a career-high four assists, and Michael DiPietro stopped all 28 shots he faced for his first NHL shutout as the Bruins demolished the Nashville Predators 6-0 on Thursday night.

It was never close. Boston scored twice in each period, the point streak stretched to seven games at 6-0-1, and the Bruins improved to 8-2-1 — the kind of complete performance head coaches dream about and goalies frame. Nashville, meanwhile, left town at 3-3-3 with its fourth loss in five games and its first shutout defeat of the season.

The tone was set early. Just 3:49 into the first period, Pastrnak slipped past two defenders just inside the offensive blue line on the right side and threaded a cross-ice pass to Casey Mittelstadt, who slid down the left side and ripped a high wrist shot from the circle past Justus Annunen's blocker side. It was Mittelstadt's first goal of the season and the eventual game-winner — Boston's fastest opening strike of the young campaign.

Annunen, making his season debut after coming off injured reserve, was under siege from the start. Boston's second goal needed only 14 seconds of a late first-period power play: McAvoy sent the puck in from the blue line and Elias Lindholm deflected it from directly in front of the crease at 16:38, redirecting it over Annunen's glove to make it 2-0.

The middle period belonged entirely to the home side. DiPietro preserved the shutout with a sprawling stop on an onrushing Mavrik Bourque, and moments later the Bruins struck at the other end. Pastrnak, parked in front, tipped McAvoy's shot from the top of the right circle past Annunen at 9:46 for a 3-0 lead. It was a play of pure chemistry: McAvoy to Pastrnak, and suddenly the roof was coming off TD Garden.

J.J. Peterka made it 4-0 with 2:39 left in the period, and the goal was almost comical in how little Nashville could do about it. Pastrnak's centering pass from the wing hit Peterka's stick, clanged off the left post — and the winger simply stayed with it and poked home his own rebound. Pastrnak's pass was that good, Peterka's finish that determined, and the Predators' coverage that absent.

The third period brought more of the same. Mark Kastelic's backhand at 6:50 made it 5-0 after Annunen misplayed a Matt Poitras dump that banked off the corner boards and the post, leaving the rebound in the slot for Kastelic to slot home. Then Pastrnak put the exclamation point on the night with 5:00 remaining, firing a wrist shot from the top of the slot that deflected off a defender in front and sailed past Annunen.

Four points for Pastrnak, who now leads the Bruins with six goals and ten assists on the season and has 14 points in his last seven games. He also joined elite company: the night was his 20th career four-point game, making him the eighth player in Bruins history to reach that milestone.

For McAvoy, it was a personal best. His four assists were a career high, and the night also made him the fourth defenseman in Bruins franchise history to record ten career games of three or more assists, joining Ray Bourque, Bobby Orr and Brad Park. Context matters here: McAvoy is only five games back from a six-game suspension to open the season — handed down for slashing Buffalo's Zach Benson in Game 6 of last spring's Eastern Conference first round — and he has six points since returning.

Pavel Zacha quietly added two assists alongside Pastrnak and Peterka on a line that Nashville had no answer for all night.

Then there was DiPietro. The 26-year-old goaltender, coming off his first NHL victory a week earlier — a 26-save effort in a 4-2 win at Anaheim — was rock solid from the first puck drop. Eleven of his 28 saves came in the second period alone, when Nashville briefly threatened to claw back into the game. He handled Ross Colton's best chance, swallowed the rebound traffic, and calmly closed out the first shutout of his NHL career and only his second win at the highest level. The Garden crowd rose to its feet as the final horn sounded, saluting a goaltending performance years in the making.

For Nashville, the autopsy is ugly. Annunen, the backup, allowed six goals on 30 shots and never got the defensive help he needed. The Predators were shut out for the first time all season, managed only scattered pressure, and finished 1-2-2 in their last five. They will try to regroup quickly: a trip to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins on Saturday awaits.

The Bruins, by contrast, look like a team hitting its stride. The only blemish on the current seven-game run was an overtime loss Tuesday at Dallas to close a 3-0-1 road trip. San Jose visits the Garden on Saturday, and Boston will carry a full head of steam into it.

Around the rest of the league on Thursday, the Penguins blanked the Panthers 4-0, the Devils downed the Ducks 4-1, the Sharks beat the Senators 6-2 and the Maple Leafs edged the Rangers 5-4. None of it topped Boston's night, though — six goals, a shutout, a career night for the star winger and the young goalie, and a Garden rocking on a night for the right cause.
