## A fourth quarter for the record books

Panathinaikos left Madrid with a 115-112 overtime victory over Real Madrid on 4 November 2026, winning a EuroLeague Round 10 classic at Movistar Arena that swung, stalled and exploded in turn before Kendrick Nunn settled it with the most destructive fourth quarter the competition has seen.

Nunn finished with 33 points on 11-of-13 shooting and a performance index rating of 32, but the headline number was 23: his fourth-quarter total, a EuroLeague record for a single period and 23 of Panathinaikos' 27 points in the quarter. He scored from deep, drove to the rim, drew fouls and, when Madrid kept answering, answered again.

## Madrid's early hole, and the long climb back

Panathinaikos started the sharper side. Sylvain Francisco and Konstantinos Mitoglou helped the visitors into an early rhythm, and by the 14th minute, with Kostas Sloukas, Nunn and Guerschon Yabusele all contributing, the lead was 15 points at 38-23. Real Madrid, however, refused to let the game become a procession.

Sergio Llull and Andres Feliz injected pace and aggression, Damian Jones dominated inside — including a dunk over Isaac Bonga that brought the arena to its feet — and a 20-9 run to close the second quarter cut the deficit to 51-48 at half-time. Madrid had survived the worst of it, and the second half became a trade of runs.

Alberto Abalde capped the third quarter with a running three-pointer off the glass at the buzzer, leaving Panathinaikos clinging to a 74-73 lead. He then hit three more triples to give Madrid its first lead, and with five minutes left in regulation a burst from Abalde and a basket from Walter Tavares had put the hosts 87-84 ahead. That was the invitation Nunn had been waiting for.

## Twenty-three points, and still overtime

Nunn answered Abalde's threes with threes of his own, attacked the rim to tie the game, buried another three while drawing an unsportsmanlike foul on Feliz, and then added a tough shot late in the possession to put Panathinaikos seven points ahead with two minutes remaining. Madrid, whose absentees included Facundo Campazzo, Theo Maledon, Mikael Jantunen, Gabriel Deck and Usman Garuba through injury, still would not go away.

Feliz and a Jones three-pointer brought the hosts back within reach. Panathinaikos led 99-97 and had possession with 30 seconds left, but Francisco lost the ball, allowing Gabriele Procida to draw a foul in transition and sink both free throws. Nunn converted two free throws of his own to restore the lead, only for Feliz to drive past his defender and finish at the rim on the final possession, tying the game at 101-101 and forcing overtime.

In overtime, Panathinaikos found the steadier accuracy. Feliz again led Madrid's resistance in the extra period, but he had too little support as the visitors closed out a 115-112 win. The 227 combined points made it the sixth-highest scoring total in EuroLeague history, and the highest-scoring game of this season.

## What the numbers say

Mathias Lessort was Panathinaikos' second scorer with 20 points and nine rebounds, a performance index rating of 30, while Francisco finished with 19. For Madrid, Feliz led the way with 27 points, Abalde scored 23 and Jones added 15, with Tavares contributing 13. The supporting numbers mattered because Nunn's explosion did not come in a vacuum: Panathinaikos needed Lessort's interior presence and Francisco's early scoring to build the lead Madrid spent the night chasing.

Llull's night also entered the record books: he set the record for most seasons in the competition with 20, a milestone Real Madrid itself highlighted despite the defeat. It was a fitting footnote to a game defined by longevity on one side and a single, unforgettable quarter on the other.

## What it means

The result leaves Panathinaikos 8-2 and top of the standings, while Real Madrid fall to 6-4, their six-game EuroLeague winning streak snapped. For the leaders, it was proof they can win a shootout on the road even when the game tilts against them late; for Madrid, depleted yet defiant, it was evidence that this group can absorb a 15-point deficit and still take the league leaders to overtime.

There is little time to dwell on it. In the next round, Real Madrid face Crvena Zvezda, while Panathinaikos host Barcelona, and both will know that the standard set in Madrid — 227 points, a record quarter, a record season for Llull, and a finish that needed five extra minutes — will be difficult to match. On this evidence, though, neither side will be short of belief.
