Rafael Câmara will make his Formula 1 debut with TGR Haas F1 Team in 2027 after signing a multi-year contract. The Brazilian’s move, confirmed in the team’s announcement and examined by Formula 1 on Thursday, takes the current F2 championship leader onto the grand prix grid.

## Junior results backed by a test

Haas lists the 21-year-old on 207 points with two Formula 2 rounds remaining. Driving for Invicta Racing, he has taken feature-race wins in Spain, Belgium and Azerbaijan, together with six podium finishes and five pole positions.

That campaign follows his 2025 Formula 3 championship. Câmara has been part of Ferrari’s driver academy since 2021, giving the move a connection with the development route previously followed by Ollie Bearman.

The decision was not based only on junior results. Haas says Câmara drove its VF-25 in a Testing of Previous Cars programme at Portimão in August. Team principal Ayao Komatsu highlighted the way he adapted to the car and worked with the team, as well as his speed.

## A confirmed seat, with another decision still open

The contract confirms Câmara’s own place. It does not, by itself, confirm the identity of his 2027 team-mate. Formula 1’s analysis describes Bearman as the favourite to remain, while distinguishing that expectation from an announced agreement.

That separation matters in driver-market reporting: a confirmed signing is different from an expected line-up. Câmara’s immediate task also remains in Formula 2, where the championship is not yet finished.

For Haas, the next competitive stop is its home United States Grand Prix weekend in Austin on 23-25 October. The longer-term decision is already made: the team will give a young driver with strong junior results the opportunity to translate that record into Formula 1 performance next season.
