NEW YORK — Olympic champion Sarah Hildebrandt needed only two bouts to announce her return to competition, and Jaclyn Bouzakis needed a pin and a 12-10 shootout, as the two Americans powered into the women's freestyle finals on the opening day of the 2026 Bill Farrell Memorial International at the New York Athletic Club on Friday.

Bouzakis is one of 17 United States wrestlers to reach a women's freestyle final at the two-day tournament, which has drawn more than 400 wrestlers from 31 countries to New York. Women's freestyle and Greco-Roman opened the event on Friday, with men's freestyle to follow on Saturday, and every final was scheduled for Friday evening.

## Hildebrandt cruises without conceding a point

Hildebrandt, the 2024 Olympic champion and the top seed at 53 kg, returned to competition in ruthless form. She opened with a 10-0 technical fall over Montana Delawder, a two-time age-group Pan American medalist, in the quarterfinals, and followed it with an 11-0 technical fall over Karissa Turnwall in the semifinals.

Turnwall arrived in New York as the 2026 Under-23 55 kg Pan American champion, but Hildebrandt gave her no opening. Both of the Olympic champion's wins came in the first period, and she did not concede a single point across the two bouts.

Hildebrandt will face Konami Ono of Japan in the 53 kg final. Ono earned her place with a 7-0 decision over Katie Gomez of the United States in the semifinals, and the final pairs the tournament's most decorated wrestler against a Japanese opponent who has yet to concede a point of her own in the bracket.

## Bouzakis survives a 12-10 shootout

Bouzakis took the harder road to the 50 kg final. She opened with a 10-0 technical fall over Alexis Miller in the qualification round, then pinned Jade Dufour of Canada, a two-time age-group World medalist, in her second match of the day.

The semifinal against Erin Golston was the most dramatic bout of the women's freestyle preliminaries. Golston, a bronze medalist at the 2026 Muhamet Malo Ranking Series tournament, pushed Bouzakis through a high-scoring contest before Bouzakis outlasted her 12-10 to claim her place in the final.

Bouzakis will meet Sage Mortimer in an all-American 50 kg final. Mortimer, an age-group World champion, began with a 13-0 win over Junghyun Lee of South Korea in the qualifiers, pinned Gracie Figueroa in one minute and 17 seconds in the quarterfinals, and earned a 13-4 decision over Kendra Ryan in the semifinals.

## Mortimer and Kilty dominate their brackets

Macey Kilty was the most dominant wrestler of the day at 62 kg. The age-group World champion earned three technical falls and outscored her opponents 31-0 from the qualifiers through the semifinals, a run that included an 11-0 technical fall over Savannah Cosme in the semifinals. Kilty will face Hanna Errthum of the United States in the final after Errthum earned a 10-0 technical fall over Annika Fines of Canada.

Amanda Martinez joined Kilty as one of two Senior National Team members in the finals. Martinez shut out Virginia Foard 8-0 in the quarterfinals at 57 kg before overpowering Carolina Moreno 11-4 in the semifinals. She will face Xochitl Mota Pettis in the final after Mota Pettis pinned Karoline Ortiz Rosado of Puerto Rico in one minute and 13 seconds.

The remaining women's freestyle finals pair Karlee Brooks against Sueanne Harms of Canada at 55 kg, Amani Jones against Emma Bruntil at 59 kg, Tiera Jimerson against Lydia Krauss at 65 kg, Vanessa Keefe of Canada against Solin Piearcy at 68 kg, Alexandria Alli against Kaylynn Albrecht at 72 kg, and Tavia Heidelberg-Tillotson against Kalila Shrive at 76 kg.

## Greco-Roman finals also set for Friday night

The Greco-Roman finals were also decided on Friday, with five Americans chasing gold at the New York Athletic Club. Payton Jacobson, a 2024 Olympian and 2025 Under-23 World bronze medalist, reached the 87 kg final, where he will face Juan Antonio Batista of the Dominican Republic.

RaVaughn Perkins, an 18-time World Team member and multi-time national champion, advanced to the 77 kg final, while Randon Miranda reached the 60 kg final and Michial Foy, a 2025 World Team member, reached the 97 kg final. Two-time Under-20 World bronze medalist Aden Attao completed the American Greco-Roman finalist list at 130 kg.

The finals and bronze-medal matches were scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, with all matches streamed live and on demand on FloWrestling. Brackets and full results are available through USA Bracketing, and the tournament continues on Saturday with the men's freestyle competition.

## A stacked early-season test in New York

The Bill Farrell Memorial has long served as one of the first major international tests of the American wrestling season, and this year's field underlines that role. More than 400 wrestlers from 31 countries entered across men's freestyle, women's freestyle and Greco-Roman, with the women's freestyle pre-seeds led by Hildebrandt, Kilty and Bruntil.

For Hildebrandt, the tournament is a measuring stick after her Olympic triumph, and her two first-period technical falls suggest she has lost none of her sharpness. For Bouzakis, the day offered something different: a pin over a proven age-group World medalist and a one-bout escape from a shootout that could easily have gone the other way.

Both wrestlers now have one bout left in New York. Hildebrandt will be the favourite at 53 kg, while Bouzakis faces a fellow American champion in a 50 kg final that guarantees the United States a gold medal either way.
