FTR vs. Motor City Machine Guns II Headlines Tonight's AEW Collision
Match 2 of the FTR vs. Motor City Machine Guns best-of-five series headlines a live AEW Collision from Winston-Salem, with Swerve Strickland facing Myron Reed -- and Match 3 plus a TBS title bout already looming on Fright Night Dynamite.

Match 2 is where a best-of-five series gets honest. On Saturday night, AEW Collision goes live from the LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina -- 8 p.m. ET on TNT and HBO Max -- and the show's centerpiece is the second chapter of a tag-team war that has already delivered: Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler of FTR against Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns.
The Guns struck first. At AEW WrestleDream, Shelley and Sabin took the opening match of the best-of-five series, seizing a 1-0 lead. That result flips the pressure entirely onto FTR tonight. In a first-to-three format, a 2-0 deficit is close to a death sentence -- teams almost never dig out of that hole. Harwood and Wheeler, two of the most technically accomplished tag wrestlers of their generation, know the arithmetic better than anyone, and they know a loss in Winston-Salem sends them to Wednesday already chasing the series.

Because Match 3 is already on the books. AEW has announced that FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns will run it back on the October 28 Fright Night edition of Dynamite from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. The scheduling tells its own story: this series is being given a spotlight usually reserved for championship programs, with installments on back-to-back flagship broadcasts.
The stylistic clash is the entire selling point. Shelley and Sabin are speed, timing and invention -- one of the great high-tempo tag teams of the modern era, who made their AEW arrival on Collision and then backed it up with a WrestleDream statement. Harwood and Wheeler are the sport's most punishing fundamentals unit, a team that wins by chopping matches into pieces and grinding opponents into the mat. Match 1 belonged to pace. Tonight's question is whether FTR can drag the series into the mud where they live, with Shatter Machine and Big Rig looming over every exchange.

For FTR, the stakes run deeper than the series score. This is a team whose reputation was built on delivering in long-form rivalries, and falling into a 0-2 hole would mark one of the roughest stretches of their AEW run. Expect a more violent, more desperate version of FTR than the one that left WrestleDream empty-handed.
The night's singles spotlight belongs to Swerve Strickland, who faces Myron Reed of The Rascalz. Strickland is rolling: on Wednesday's Dynamite he needed mere seconds to dismantle Tome Filip, extending a winning streak that has him positioned as one of AEW's most dangerous singles threats. Dynamite even gave The Rascalz the video-package treatment, a signal the company sees Reed as a prospect worth a showcase -- but a showcase opposite Swerve Strickland is the steepest possible ask. Reed's speed and aerial game can hang with anyone; the problem is that Swerve has made a habit of turning showcase matches into statements.
There is a bigger angle simmering underneath. On Dynamite, Strickland demanded Texas Death rules for a World Trios Titles collision with Hangman Page and Brodido, and every singles win right now is leverage for that war. A clean, emphatic victory over Reed keeps his momentum white-hot heading into the stretch toward Full Gear -- and keeps the Trios division's most dangerous man exactly where he wants to be: feared.
And this series is not the only thread pointing at Wednesday. Fright Night Dynamite is shaping into a loaded night. Beyond Match 3 of the tag series, the TBS Championship is on the line: Persephone defends against Queen Aminata, who earned the shot by beating the returning Maya World in a number-one contender's match on Dynamite. It will be Persephone's fifth title defense since winning the gold from Maya in August, and Aminata is still chasing her first championship in AEW. The two have recent history -- they met in a four-way at WrestleDream where Persephone retained -- and the Dynamite standoff afterward, with Persephone and Britt Baker confronting the challenger before Hyan and Maya World stood with Aminata, all but guaranteed the hostilities won't wait for the bell.
Zoom out, and tonight's Collision is a hinge in one of AEW's busiest stretches. The road runs through Fright Night, then the November 4 Blood & Guts Dynamite in Jacksonville -- Adam Copeland, Steven Borden, Darby Allin, the Young Bucks and Will Ospreay against the Don Callis Family -- and on to Full Gear on November 14 in Phoenix. Every result in this window carries weight beyond the night.
But first things first. Two tag teams, a series on the line, and a building that expects a war. Match 2 goes down tonight at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and HBO Max -- and if the WrestleDream opener was any indication, FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns are just getting started.
