UFC 333 fight week: Abu Dhabi hosts a title double-header with a coin-flip main event
Alexander Volkanovski and Movsar Evloev meet at even odds while Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili settle their bantamweight trilogy at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi.

The UFC's return to the Middle East is days away, and fight week in Abu Dhabi has officially begun. UFC 333 — the promotion's 10th numbered event of the calendar year — takes place this Saturday, October 24, at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, with two title fights topping the bill: featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski defends against unbeaten challenger Movsar Evloev, and bantamweight champion Petr Yan meets Merab Dvalishvili in a trilogy fight with the belt on the line.
The first episode of the UFC's "Embedded" series dropped on Monday, following all four headliners as they arrived in the desert — and the oddsmakers cannot split the main event.
The coin-flip main event: Volkanovski vs Evloev

Alexander Volkanovski (28-4 MMA, 15-3 UFC) puts his featherweight title on the line against Movsar Evloev (20-0 MMA, 10-0 UFC), and bookmakers have the matchup as a dead heat. Both men were listed at -110 apiece, a pick'em that tells you how seriously the market takes the unbeaten No. 2 contender.
Volkanovski is the two-time champion, the division's No. 1 and the No. 2 pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, with a legacy that grows with every defence. Evloev is 10-0 in the UFC and has never tasted defeat as a professional — the kind of streak that usually ends with a title shot or a reality check, and the promotion itself has already begun nudging the stakes higher, asking whether a win over Evloev cements Volkanovski's standing among the all-time featherweight greats.
The trilogy: Yan vs Dvalishvili settles it

The co-main event has been three years in the making. Petr Yan (20-5 MMA, 12-4 UFC), the two-time bantamweight champion, faces former titleholder Merab Dvalishvili (21-5 MMA, 14-3 UFC) for the third time — and the score is 1-1.
Their history is one of the defining rivalries of the division. Dvalishvili won the first meeting in March 2023 with a five-round scorecard sweep, a relentless performance that announced him as a genuine title threat. Yan avenged that loss in December 2025 with a dominant decision of his own. Nearly ten months have passed since that rematch, and neither man has competed since — making this one of the most anticipated returns of the year.
The betting market leans Yan's way this time: the champion was a -170 favorite against Dvalishvili (+155) as of October 19. Yan has struck a confident tone all week, insisting he has Dvalishvili's number and that the challenger knows he was "humbled" in their December meeting — "he was broken," Yan said. Confidence is cheap in fight week; whether Dvalishvili's pressure can survive Yan's counters for five rounds again is the real question. His win over Yan in their first fight was a complete 25-minute sweep. Which version of the fight shows up on Saturday decides the division.
Inside fight week: Embedded episode one
The first episode of UFC 333 "Embedded" landed on Monday, documenting the final days before the biggest double-header of the autumn. The vignettes are classic fight-week fare, but they reveal how settled — or not — each camp looks.
Dvalishvili hosted a barbecue with his team up in the mountains. Volkanovski sparred with Colby Thicknesse, who is also on Saturday's card. Yan signed autographs. Losene Keita prepared for his UFC debut by going back to where his fighting all started. Aaron Pico went shopping in Morocco. Thicknesse took his blind cat for a walk. Evloev continued his camp in Abu Dhabi, while "Hollywood Volk" showed up for the Sydney premiere of Street Fighter.
The undercard carries weight
Beyond the two title fights, the card is stacked with matchups that could shape divisions. Losene Keita faces Aaron Pico in a featherweight bout with serious momentum behind it — Keita making his promotional debut against the highly touted Pico. At light heavyweight, former title challenger Dominick Reyes meets the surging Azamat Murzakanov, while Nikita Krylov takes on Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev. The main card is rounded out by flyweights Lone'er Kavanagh and Ramazan Temirov, and a heavyweight clash between Alexander Volkov and Rizvan Kuniev.
The full main card airs at 2 p.m. ET on Paramount+, with the preliminary card beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
Heavyweight aftershock: Gane-Hokit set for UFC 334
The news out of the heavyweight division arrived separately this week and it is seismic in its own right. Ciryl Gane has been promoted to undisputed UFC heavyweight champion after Tom Aspinall vacated the title earlier this month as he continues to recover from eye injuries, and Gane is now booked against surging contender Josh Hokit in the UFC 334 main event at Madison Square Garden next month.
Gane's longtime coach sees something special — and historic — in the challenger, comparing Hokit to all-time great and UFC Hall of Famer Cain Velasquez ahead of the showdown. For Hokit, the MSG main event would be the culmination of one of the most remarkable runs in UFC heavyweight history. The heavyweight picture, clouded for months by Aspinall's injury, is suddenly moving again.
