Jake Paul announces Christmas Eve comeback fight in Dubai — opponent still to be named
Jake Paul will fight in Dubai on Christmas Eve, 24 December 2026.

A Christmas Eve date, but no opponent yet

Jake Paul will return to professional boxing on Christmas Eve, headlining a major event in Dubai on Thursday, 24 December 2026. Most Valuable Promotions, the promotion Paul co-founded, announced the date on Thursday, 29 October 2026, setting up a comeback that is already notable for what it does not yet contain: an opponent.
Paul's opponent has not been announced, and neither MVP nor Paul has said when a name will be confirmed. Gulf News reported that MVP said the opponent and further event details will be announced in the coming weeks. For now, the announcement is deliberately simple — a date, a city, and a promise. Paul framed the unfinished business as part of the appeal, saying there are plenty of names on the list and asking, in effect, who will sign the contract.
The announcement also marks Paul's first professional fight in Dubai. No venue has been named, and no broadcast or streaming partner was identified in the reports of the announcement. Those details, like the opponent, remain to be confirmed, and any discussion of them before MVP confirms them would be speculation.
The road back from a broken jaw

Paul, 29, has not fought since his defeat by Anthony Joshua in December 2025. That fight ended in a sixth-round knockout loss in Miami on 19 December 2025, when Joshua, a former heavyweight champion, stopped Paul and left him with a broken jaw. Reuters reported that Paul's jaw was fractured in two places and that the injuries required surgeries in December and February. USA Today reported that, according to Paul, the injury required two surgeries.
The scale of that injury explains both the length of the absence and the tone of the comeback announcement. A broken jaw is not a routine boxing injury, and recovery from it raises questions that go beyond fitness. It affects training, sparring, confidence, and the basic willingness to take a punch again. Paul addressed that directly in his statement, insisting that nothing that has happened has changed his belief in himself or what he is working toward.
"I've spent years proving people wrong, taking risks, and pushing myself against opponents nobody thought I'd face," Paul said. "Nothing that's happened has changed my belief in myself or what I'm working toward. I'm hungrier than ever."
He added: "We've got plenty of names on the list; let's see who signs the contract. Merry Christmas, Dubai. Santa Paul is coming to town, and somebody's getting knocked out."
Paul's professional record stands at 12 wins and two defeats, with seven victories by knockout. His two losses came against Tommy Fury in 2023 and against Joshua. Before the Joshua fight, Paul had built his boxing career on a mix of crossover bouts and increasingly serious tests, including his November 2024 fight against Mike Tyson, which Gulf News noted among the previous fights that attracted enormous global audiences. The Joshua fight was a step beyond that, against a former unified heavyweight champion, and it ended in a conclusive stoppage, a serious injury, and a long road back.
MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian touted Paul's return after the injury. "Well he is back, and that tells you everything about the competitor Jake Paul is and how much he loves this sport," Bidarian said, according to USA Today. "This is more than a fight. It's a global event in one of the world's great destination cities, on one of the most special nights of the year."
Why Dubai, and what comes next
Dubai's role in the announcement is more than a location. Khalfan Belhoul, vice chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, welcomed the event, saying Dubai continues to strengthen its position as the world's preferred destination for sport, bringing together exceptional athletes, leading promoters and fans from across the globe. Gulf News reported that the event is being organised as part of a cooperation agreement involving the Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and MVP.
That framing matters because Dubai has spent years positioning itself as a host for major international sporting events, and a Paul fight on Christmas Eve fits that strategy: a globally recognised name, a date that stands out, and an audience that extends well beyond traditional boxing fans. For Paul, Dubai offers a fresh stage for a comeback, away from the cities where his previous fights were defined, and a setting he described in his own statement as a city that thinks big, breaks boundaries, and does not believe in limits.
"Dubai is a city that thinks big, breaks boundaries, and doesn't believe in limits. That's exactly the kind of place I want to make my comeback," Paul said.
What happens next will be decided by the opponent announcement. Until a name is signed, the Christmas Eve card is a promise rather than a matchup, and the questions that will shape its reception are still open. USA Today noted that a rematch against Fury appears highly unlikely, but it did not name a likely alternative, and MVP has not done so either.
For Paul, the stakes are also personal. A successful return would show that the jaw injury has not ended his boxing career and that he can still command a major event after a damaging defeat. For now, though, the story is the return itself: a date set, a city chosen, and a fighter who says he is hungrier than ever, waiting to see who signs the contract.
